Foreign Languages, ESL, and Speech Department

It is commonly agreed that foreign language study generates an appreciation of cultural diversity, thus broadening one’s view of the world as well as fostering an understanding of the interrelation of language and human nature. Doubtlessly, knowledge of a foreign language enhances one’s opportunities in government, business, industry, technology, law, and medicine, among many other fields.

Although there is currently no degree program in foreign languages at SUNY Broome, the Department of Foreign Languages, ESL and Speech (FLES) proudly offers rigorous college courses from which SUNY Broome degree programs list in their program course requirements. These college courses transfer very well across four-year colleges as well as within the SUNY system.
