Position Summary

The Office of Administration is seeking a friendly and dependable SUNY Broome student to serve as a Part-Time Student Assistant.

This is a great opportunity for a student looking to gain basic office experience in a professional and supportive environment. The Student Assistant will help create a friendly and welcoming experience for everyone who visits or contacts the office while providing support with phones and day-to-day office operations.

Part-time, flexible hours, Monday–Friday, with coverage generally needed between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Shifts are typically three hours and can be adjusted to accommodate the student’s class schedule and the needs of the office.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and welcome students, employees, and visitors, serving as a friendly and professional first point of contact for the office.
  • Answer phones, respond to basic questions, and direct callers or visitors to the appropriate person.
  • Assist with day-to-day office operations.
  • Perform light office tasks such as filing, copying, scanning, sorting, and organizing.

Position Summary

The Student Assistant will support the daily operations, programs, and community-facing work of the Office of Workforce Development & Community Partnerships.

Working alongside department staff, the student will assist with program coordination, customer service, communications, data entry, event preparation, marketing and outreach efforts, and administrative projects connected to workforce training, employer partnerships, and community initiatives.

This position is designed to provide hands-on professional experience while helping students develop transferable skills in communication, organization, project support, marketing, and workplace professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly and professional customer service to students, visitors, employers, and community partners.
  • Answer phones, greet visitors, and respond to general questions about programs and services.
  • Assist with student registration, data entry, attendance tracking, and record maintenance.
  • Support workshops, trainings, meetings, and special events by preparing materials and assisting with setup and coordination.
  • Help maintain calendars, contact lists, spreadsheets, digital files, and other department records.
  • Assist with email communication, outreach efforts, and promotional or informational materials.
  • Support marketing efforts for department programs, events, and initiatives, including helping develop and distribute digital and print content.

Lead Student Podcast Producer

Position Summary

The Lead Student Podcast Producer will help manage the planning, production, and publication of a workforce-development podcast produced through the Office of Workforce Development & Community Partnerships. Working closely with the Assistant Director, who will serve as the podcast’s main host and executive producer, the Lead Student Producer will coordinate the production calendar, support guest scheduling, research episode topics, develop interview questions, and help guide each episode from initial idea through recording and publication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the podcast production calendar, episode tracker, and recording schedule.
  • Coordinate assignments, deadlines, and communication across the student podcast team.
  • Identify and research potential guests, including students, alumni, employers, educators, and community leaders.
  • Contact guests, coordinate availability, confirm recording details, and send preparation materials.
  • Research workforce-development topics, industries, career pathways, and community initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the host and student co-hosts to develop episode themes, outlines, and interview questions.
  • Prepare guest briefs containing background information, proposed questions, and key discussion topics.
  • Support recording sessions and ensure the studio, equipment, and episode materials are prepared.
  • Assist with basic audio/video production, file organization, editing coordination, and quality review.
  • Track episodes through preproduction, recording, postproduction, approval, and publication.
  • Help create episode titles, descriptions, show notes, promotional copy, and short-form content.
  • Participate in regular editorial and production meetings and follow college policies related to branding, accessibility, privacy, and content approval.

Student Podcast Co-Host & Associate Producer

Position Summary

The Student Podcast Co-Host & Associate Producer will help research, plan, record, and promote a workforce-development podcast produced through the Office of Workforce Development & Community Partnerships.

The student will periodically serve as an on-air co-host alongside the Assistant Director and will participate in the full podcast-development process, including guest research, interview preparation, production support, and digital promotion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a rotating co-host for selected podcast episodes.
  • Research potential guests, career fields, employers, workforce trends, and episode topics.
  • Collaborate with the host and production team to develop thoughtful and relevant interview questions.
  • Participate in pre-interview conversations and guest-preparation sessions when appropriate.
  • Assist with guest outreach, scheduling, confirmations, and follow-up communication.
  • Prepare for recordings by reviewing guest information, episode objectives, and interview outlines.
  • Welcome guests and help create a professional and comfortable recording environment.

Intramural Sports Official/Referee & Scorekeeper

General duties include enforcing all rules and policies relating to a particular sport/activity, as well as keeping score and time for evening and weekend activities.Set-up and clean up will be required.Training sessions will be provided.Assist with game management duties and responsibilities, work within various weather-related conditions, must be able to lift various amounts of weight with and/or without assistance and have appropriate fitness levels based on the specific sport.
