Position Summary

The Student Worker provides administrative and program support to the Workforce Development & Continuing Education department. This role supports non-credit programs, employer partnerships, and community-based initiatives that strengthen regional workforce outcomes. The position offers hands-on experience in workforce programming, customer service, and office operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide front-line customer service by greeting visitors, answering phones, and responding to general inquiries related to workforce and continuing education programs
  • Assist with student registration, data entry, and record maintenance for non-credit programs
  • Support program coordination, including preparing materials, tracking attendance, and assisting with workshops, trainings, and events
  • Assist staff with scheduling, email communication, and basic reporting
  • Maintain organized digital and physical files in accordance with college policies and procedures
  • Assist with outreach efforts such as assembling program materials, updating contact lists, and supporting communications
  • Uphold confidentiality of student, employer, and program information
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Intramural Sports Official/Referee & Scorekeeper

General duties include enforcing all rules and policies relating to a particular sport/activity, as well as keeping score and time for evening and weekend activities.Set-up and clean up will be required.Training sessions will be provided.Assist with game management duties and responsibilities, work within various weather-related conditions, must be able to lift various amounts of weight with and/or without assistance and have appropriate fitness levels based on the specific sport.

Must have general sports knowledge for each intramural sport.

Locations will vary based on the sport (West gym, Student Village basketball courts, Soccer field & Tennis courts).

– Provide directional assistance and communicate campus/library policies to patrons- Assist library patrons in finding items through a familiarity with the Library of Congress system, the layout of Tyrrell Library and its collections.

– Check out/in and renew circulating materials on the automated system, answer phones, shelve books with accuracy, gather unshelved books, assist with opening/closing.

– Provide first level IT support to users with technical problems, in addition to showing patrons how to log onto MyCollege, BrightSpace, perform Degree Evaluations, etc.

– Assist with special projects as needed (i.e., stuff envelopes, input data, gallery, etc.).

– Professionally and appropriately represent the Cecil C. Tyrrell Library at campus events – open houses, activities, etc.

SUNY Broome admissions office is seeking student Admission Assistants. This position is a great student leadership opportunity! Admission Assistants will become extremely knowledgeable, resourceful, and learn how to identify answers/solutions to visitors’ inquiries. These individuals are required to bring groups of people to various locations on campus. Walking for approximately 45 minutes at a time.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Comfortable with public speaking and demonstrate confidence and campus spirit
• Conduct campus tours for prospective students, high school groups, large recruitment programs, and specialty tours
• Provide positive student stories and memorable experiences for guests on tour
