Whether you’re reviewing basic arithmetic, preparing for an exam, or tackling calculus, the Math Lab is here to help you succeed.

Our free tutoring services are available to all currently enrolled SUNY Broome students taking mathematics courses. Our tutors don’t just help you solve problems—they help you understand concepts, build confidence, and become a stronger learner.

Professional and peer tutoring

Computers with required course software
Textbooks available for use in the lab

Please Note:

• To ensure tutoring complements classroom instruction:
  • Students should attend class regularly.
  • If you have missed class, please meet with your instructor before visiting the Math Lab.
  • Tutors review and reinforce concepts taught in class but cannot introduce new course material.

What to Expect During Your First Visit

Visiting the Math Lab for the first time? We’ve got you covered!

Our goal is to provide a supportive, judgment-free environment where you can ask questions, build your skills, and gain confidence in math.

Here’s what you can expect:

• Check In: A staff member will greet you and ask for your student ID.
• Tell Us What You Need: Let us know which course you’re taking and what you’d like help with, whether it’s homework, studying for an exam, or understanding a difficult concept.
• Work with a Tutor: A professional or peer tutor will work alongside you, helping you understand the material and develop problem-solving strategies rather than simply providing answers.
• Learn at Your Pace: You can ask as many questions as you need. Our tutors are here to support your learning in a welcoming and respectful environment.
• Stay as Long as You Need: You’re welcome to use the lab to study independently, work with classmates, or receive tutoring during our open hours.

What Should I Bring?

To get the most out of your visit, please bring:

• Your SUNY Broome student ID
• Your textbook or access to your online course materials
• Class notes
• Homework or practice problems
• A calculator (if required for your course)
