The College’s policies, practices, and resource allocations collectively support broad access to higher education, appropriate instructional placement, and comprehensive academic and student support services.

Open Access and Admission

SUNY Broome maintains an open-access admissions framework consistent with the mission of community colleges within the State University of New York system.

The College offers admission to applicants residing within its sponsorship area who have graduated from high school or possess a high school equivalency credential. Applicants are accepted into appropriate academic programs aligned with their educational goals and readiness.

The College also supports multiple entry pathways, including dual enrollment, adult learner re-engagement, and credit for prior learning, to ensure broad and equitable access.

Implementation of Access

SUNY Broome has fully implemented its open-access mission through a comprehensive range of academic programs and enrollment pathways.

These services include developmental and corequisite instruction, academic advising, success coaching, tutoring and learning assistance, counseling services, and accessibility supports. These resources are designed to promote student success, retention, and completion.
