To take advantage of SUNY Reconnect, you’ll need to meet a few basic requirements:
- You must be between 25 and 55 years old—at least 25 by the time classes begin, and no older than 55 as of January 1 of the year you enroll. Once you’re in the program, you’ll have up to 10 semesters to finish your degree, even if you turn 56 along the way.
- SUNY Reconnect is designed for students who have not yet earned a college degree. If you’ve taken some college classes or earned a certificate, that’s absolutely okay.
- You’ll need to enroll in an eligible associate degree program at SUNY Broome and take at least 6 credits each semester. The courses you take must count toward your degree—this helps ensure you’re making steady progress.
- Because SUNY Reconnect works alongside financial aid, you’ll also need to apply for aid each year (FAFSA, TAP, or the NYS DREAM Act, depending on your situation).
- Finally, you’ll need to be a New York State resident (or qualify for in-state tuition) and submit a Certificate of Residency from your home county each year.
