Supplemental Support Services
Supplemental Support Services
Supplemental Support Services (SSS) helps the Hornet community by providing comprehensive, non-academic support to ensure BASIC NEEDS are met.
BASIC NEEDS include a student’s essential requirements for health and well-being that must be met in order for them to succeed in college. These needs include:
- Sufficient FOOD
- Access to HYGIENE and CLOTHING necessities
- Adequate & stable HOUSING
- FINANCIAL HEALTH – ability to pay bills
- Ability for PARENTS to provide for their children
Supplemental Support Services provides on and off campus referrals for students through the following resources:
Food, Clothing & Hygiene Insecurity – The Hornet Hope Center (HHC)
Located in TC-208 B&C, The Hornet Hope Center is SUNY Broome’s on-campus food pantry and clothing closet available for students only. Students must present a current SUNY Broome Student ID to utilize this service.
The Hornet Hope Center has non-perishables, refrigerated, and frozen foods as well as clothing, hygiene products, and household supplies available for students. The Hornet Hope Center is sustained by the generosity of our donors. Supply is determined by donations and inventory varies daily.
Unhoused / Housing Insecurity
The Homeless Liaison serves as the point of contact for students struggling with housing insecurity or homelessness — defined by the State University of New York (SUNY) as a lack of “fixed, regular and adequate nighttime residence” — and connects them with available resources and advise them to ensure that they are achieving academic success.
The Homelessness Liaison meets with students who are currently unhoused or housing insecure and assesses each student’s ability to meet their basic needs.
The Homelessness Liaison also provides referrals to all on- and off-campus resources for which each student may be eligible to ensure that, at minimum, they have a safe place to live and sleep and enough food to meet their nutritional needs.
If a student is experiencing homelessness, please reach out to SUNY Broome’s Homeless Liaison for more information and assistance.
If a student is experiencing a Housing Emergency please call:
