Student Instructions

Use the Academic Planning tool to organize your course loads, map out future semesters, and ensure you meet your graduation goals on time.

Reviewing your Academic Plan ensures your courses align with your degree requirements. The tool automatically loads your courses into Schedule Planner for easy schedule building and registration.

  • Log into MyCollege

    • Go to mycollege.sunybroome.edu

  • Launch Academic Planning

    • From the Home page, locate “The Success Center” and select “Academic Planning & Registration” to bring up the page with the Academic Planning link.  Then select “Academic Planning”.

  • Once you’re successfully in Planning, you will see your Plan. Your plan will initially include four semesters (fall, spring, fall, spring) with a full-time course load.

    You and your Academic Advisor will meet to discuss the correct course load for you. When thinking about the number of courses to take, you should consider:

    • Outside time commitments

    • Course pre-requisites

    • Financial aid and cost of courses

    • Time to degree completion

  • Tip: Confirm your Primary plan indicated by the Star icon.

    You can switch plans (if you are a dual major student), view your schedule, degree requirements, course history, and course catalog from the side menu of Planning.

  • Add items to your plan

    You can add items to your Plan by selecting the “+ add” button.

  • Adding & Moving Courses

    Prior to registration, connect with your advisor when adding or moving courses. Add new course or non-course items via the +Add button.

  • You can add future terms by selecting “+ Add Term”

  • It will show a drop-down menu with future terms. Select the semester that you would like to add courses to from the drop-down menu.

  • On any term, you can click the three vertical dots to add a column, move a term, or delete a term*. Add comments to interact with your Academic Advisor. You will need to log back into Planning to see replies from your Academic Advisor.

    *If your plan is locked, you will not be able to move or delete terms. Consult with your Academic Advisor for questions about this.

  • To find out more about a course, click on the course name to read the course description.

  • To view more details about your program, select “view details” to open the side menu.

  • You may be prompted to select, “Update”. This will update to ensure any changes made in Banner are populating correctly on your Plan.

  • From here, you can view:

    • Percentage completed for different requirements

    • Courses previously taken and what requirements they completed

    • Courses currently registered for in the current or upcoming term

    • Courses that are planned for future registration

    • Course options to choose from if there is a choice to complete a course

  • On the side menu, you can also view the Change Log. This will show you who has added, deleted, or moved courses or terms on your Plan.

  • Once you have met with your Academic Advisor and your plan for the semester is set, you can select “Schedule” to go directly to Schedule Planner to choose your schedule and register for classes.

  • If the semester you are trying to register for already includes courses you have completed or registered previously, you will get an alert. Uncheck the course to remove it from Schedule Planner course list.

  • You will be taken to Schedule Planner where you can register for the classes in your Plan. For help with using Schedule Planner, visit:

    To navigate back to your Plan, select “Plan” from the side menu.

  • Your plan will populate for you to choose. If you are a dual major student, you may see more than one Plan listed here.
