The Grants Planning Process (Pre-Award)

Step 1

The faculty/staff Project Initiator(s) develop a project concept to address an evidence-based need in their area. Seeking input from peers, Department Chair/Director, and Sponsored Programs staff is encouraged.

Step 2

The Project Initiator obtains the two-page ““Project Concept Form – New Grant Proposal” (PDF Fillable Form) from the Sponsored Programs Office (SPO) and completes the Form.

Step 3

The Project Initiator meets with Dean/Director to discuss the project concept and review the Project Concept Form. If approved, the Dean/Director signs the Form and forwards to VP for review and approval.

Step 4

Once the VP reviews and signs the Form, the Dean/Director (or Project Initiator) forwards the original fully executed Project Concept Form to the SPO.

Step 5

Sponsored Programs staff assist the Project Initiator with identifying potential funding sources, developing proposals, and preparing grant application(s).

Step 6

The Director of Sponsored Programs is responsible for obtaining any official signatures required on grant applications and for submitting all grant applications to funding sources.
