Accounting: A.S.
Program Mission
The mission of the A.S. in Accounting program is to provide a well-rounded business education that prepares students for transfer to four-year colleges and universities. In addition, this versatile degree also provides students with the necessary knowledge, skills, and training to work in accounting-related careers in accounting, bookkeeping, accounting clerk, credit and receivables, tax preparation, accounts payables and receivables budgeting, and budget variance analysis. The degree provides a well-rounded education through a variety of coursework in areas including Law, Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, Income Tax, Spreadsheets, Statistics, Law, Mathematics, Ethics, and Management. and English that develops student skills in critical thinking, reading and writing, and proficiency in basic technical accounting skills.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate an understanding of concepts and terms in accounting, income tax, management, and law.
- Solve statistical and mathematical problems in business.
- Communicate effectively in organizational settings.
- Analyze and respond effectively to legal and ethical situations in diverse organizations.
