Health Sciences: A.S.
Health Sciences A.S. – formerly Health Studies A.S.
The Health Sciences A.S. degree is designed to be very customizable to allow students to select the courses that apply most directly to their individual health career paths and transfer plans. The degree requirements allow students to choose from among many different biology, math, science, and health-related classes that meet their specific career goals and academic needs.
This degree provides a broader foundation in science and mathematics and is designed primarily for students seeking to transfer into medical or health science programs. Although it is primarily designed as a degree to prepare students to transfer to other colleges or universities, it may also serve students who wish to transfer into other health science programs at SUNY Broome Community College or for employment in entry-level positions in healthcare facilities.
Health science advisors are available to help students design the sequence and selection of courses to complete these tracks of study.
Many of the classes in this program are available online, in a traditional classroom setting, or as a blend of the two—offering greater flexibility for students to choose courses that meet their needs and learning styles. Additionally, through careful selection of courses, the Health Sciences A.S. can be completed entirely online.
Health Sciences A.S. or Health Studies A.A.S.?
The Health Sciences A.S. degree is ideal for those looking to transfer to another college or university, transfer into a health program here on campus, or take advantage of the many articulation agreements we have across SUNY. This degree is designed to be customizable, allowing students to select courses that align most directly with their individual health career paths.
The Health Studies A.A.S. degree is ideal for students seeking career opportunities upon graduation in various health fields or those planning to transfer into a competitive health program on campus. An excellent feature of this degree is that it offers students the option to simultaneously earn a health-related certificate that can be fully embedded in the degree. Like the A.S. degree, it is customizable to support students’ specific health career goals.
