GO1006 Naming of College Spaces for Recognition Purposes

Policy: Naming of College Spaces of Recognition Purposes Policy No.: GO1006
Authority: SUNY Broome Community College Board of Trustees
Policy Owner President Responsible Party: President
Approved: February 28, 1996
Revised: December 11, 2008

The Board of Trustees authorizes the College President to develop a list of college spaces and locations which may be named in recognition of an individual or a group who has made a significant financial contribution to
the College.

The Trustees will approve general “suggested levels of support” for various locations before the College or SUNY Broome Foundation offer to name a site in someone’s honor. Once a donor has been identified with a particular location, a recommendation will be forwarded for approval by the Board of
Trustees.

In situations judged exceptions by the Board of Trustees, and with the passage of six months from the time the exception is brought to the Board’s attention, the Trustees may at their discretion elect to name SUNY Broome facilities and locations on the basis of contributions other than financial.
