Purpose

The purpose of the policy is to provide parameters for a student previously not in good academic standing to re-enroll at the College in a degree program through the SUNY Broome Academic Fresh Start program.

Statement of the Policy

An Academic Fresh Start provides a student who is not in good academic standing and who has not been enrolled at the College for two or more consecutive years the opportunity to improve their GPA.

The granting of an Academic Fresh Start applies to a student’s progress towards degree completion. It does not restore financial aid eligibility or change academic standing.

Eligibility for an Academic Fresh Start does not apply to competitive enrollment programs.

Academic Fresh Start cannot be rescinded once granted, and can be used only once while at SUNY Broome.
