To support the college’s educational mission and proactively address issues related to student behavior and expectations, the Student Rights and Responsibilities Coordinator offers educational programs through presentations and training seminars. Presentations

  • Know the Code (Conduct 101) (45 Min.): This workshop is tailored for faculty, staff, and student organizations. It provides an overview of the Student Conduct Code, the conduct process, and student rights.
  • Understanding Biases (60 Min.): This session helps students explore bias, including the differences between implicit and explicit bias, how they function, and their manifestations in everyday life.
  • Being an Ally (45 Min.): This workshop teaches students the essence of being an ally, its importance, and how to show solidarity to those in need of support.
  • How to Handle Conflict (60 Min.): Students will gain tools and strategies for effectively managing conflicts in the future.
  • Empowering Inclusivity: Understanding Social Identities (60 Min.): This session focuses on recognizing and respecting diverse social identities, promoting inclusivity, and fostering empathy.

Learning Outcomes

  • Students will develop a comprehensive understanding of the college’s code of student conduct.
  • Students will learn to identify and apply ethical decision-making skills, understanding how their personal values influence their actions and impact their educational goals.
  • Students will recognize how their behavior affects the SUNY Broome community and learn to demonstrate positive behavior.
  • Students will explore alternative actions and strategies to avoid violating the code of conduct.
