Brightspace FAQs for SUNY Broome Faculty Retirees
When you retire, your Brightspace account will remain active in the system. This is done to enable you to access Brightspace should you teach again in the future at SUNY Broome or at another SUNY institution with an environment in the SUNY DLE. In order to access Brightspace, however, you will need an active MyCollege account or an active network account at the other SUNY institution.
All courses that you have taught or had access to will remain in Brightspace with content and student data intact. Courses will not be deleted upon your leaving Broome. In the future, however, SUNY may implement a data/course purge process that will remove courses not accessed for a yet to be determined number of semesters or years.
The Instructional Designers in the TRC would need your written permission to share your course content. If you would like to make your content available to your department for use by other instructors, please complete the following form for each course you wish to share. (Note: You must be logged into your SUNY Broome Google account in order to access this form.) Request to Share a Brightspace Course with the Department A master copy of the course will be created and the current Chair of the department will be given instructor access. The Chair will then be responsible for requesting that other members of the department be given course copier access to the shell when it is needed.
While access to the Brightspace Learning Management System is required in order to have a complete, interactive copy of a course, faculty members have the ability to make a backup of course content that can be accessed through Windows Explorer or other file browser. We have created the following instructions to assist you with this process. Exporting Brightspace Course Content
