“I lost my purse somewhere between campus and the CEC and was frantic. I called Public Safety early that evening and spoke with officer Evan Lawshe. He took my information and said he would be in touch. He called me back a bit later and told me that he reviewed the security footage, seeing that I had my purse with me when I entered the CEC for a meeting earlier that day; but didn’t have it when I left, indicating that it must be in the locked building. Evan is a great asset to our campus, always helpful & friendly, and I am happy to nominate him as VIP!”

Thank you, Ken, for your support and patience with me.”

“When a brand-new student wandered into the Health Sciences suite looking for help, Stacy didn’t say “you’re not in my division/it’s not my job.” She personally escorted the student to THREE different offices on campus to help him get what he needed so he could obtain a student ID and be able to ride the bus back to his off-campus apartment. This was the student’s first time on campus in person and his experience went from frustrating to white-glove with Stacy’s help. She stepped in to be the student’s trusted adult, and gave him her contact info for the future. She absolutely put the student at the center.”

“I brought my boys (7 and 8) to campus for the Veterans’ Day event, the first of many stops over the long weekend. On Sunday evening, we realized my first grader lost his beloved crocheted turkey hat at some point during our adventures. After calling all the stores we went to, plus the library and Grama’s house (another weekend stop), I emailed Public Safety, and was so thrilled to learn that the kindness of someone on campus meant our turkey hat was safely in the lost and found.”
– Sarah Armstrong
“Michael works very diligently with his team to ensure that the College remains financially solid, especially in this post-pandemic economy. Michael and his team financially support many positive upgrades to the campus physically and allocate funds for innovative academic and social programming. He doesn’t hesitate to promptly answer questions and offer suggestions to help. Often the data/numbers/finance employees on any campus unfairly get a bad rap, but in my years working with Michael, he has solidly remained a respectful and supportive colleague. He’s quiet, but funny, so stop him and say hello the next time you see him taking laps around the campus!”

“Patty always goes above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction for all catering events at SUNY Broome. She ensures the quality and presentation of catering is professional (and tasty!) Even during the most challenging times, Patty puts her clients’ needs first. She is always smiling, has a positive attitude, and does anything she can to make others feel happy and appreciated. For that – we are all proud to nominate her as a VIP! We are so grateful for her!”
– Justine Dadamio, Michael Stamets, and Cathy Abashian Williams
“It has been my pleasure to work with and get to know Dr. Nick over the past year. I have learned so much from him, and he makes work a ton of fun! Nick is so much more than my boss; he is my teammate, my partner in shenanigans, and most importantly, my friend. They say “do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life,” but no one tells you, “find a boss you love, and work won’t feel like work.” I can’t imagine doing this without you. Thank you for being a friend!”
– Rae Palmer-Jones (CJPO ’10)
“Donna goes above and beyond to make sure students can understand and maximize their financial aid to make paying for college a reality. Most people would just refer students to the appropriate office, not Donna. She helps them navigate and closes the loop. She jokingly calls offices saying she’s our favorite “pain in the ass” – she is my favorite because of what she does for our students!”
– Maureen Breck (ISAS ’13)
“She is so committed to the student she hunts the student down at the bus stop to update them. Seen this many times while out and about.”
– Peter Brenchley
“Donna is always going above and beyond to help students. Instead of bouncing students from office to office she will call another office and find out what the student needs. If she can’t get them on the phone she will walk to the office and find out what the student needs. She makes sure by the time the student leaves our office they know what they need to do. Students come to our office just to stop in and say hi to Donna. She is an integral part of SUNY Broome.” – Shannon Barnum (ISAS ’24)
“We nominate Susan Wellington as a SUNY Broome VIP! Susan is very helpful to each of us with the competitive admission process, questions, helping students, Banner updates, etc. She is pleasant and accommodating. Admissions is lucky to have her. Susan is our SUNY Broome VIP!”
– Maralena Dropp, Karoline Pignatelli & Heather Sutliff
“Heather Worden has been an adjunct professor in the music department for approximately ten years. Her commitment to her students has been constant and so many graduates talk about the influence she made on their lives, as well as how prepared they were for future study, because of her tutelage. We appreciate everything she does for SUNY Broome and our students.”
