Unhoused / Housing Insecurity

The Homeless Liaison serves as the point of contact for students struggling with housing insecurity or homelessness — defined by the State University of New York (SUNY) as a lack of “fixed, regular and adequate nighttime residence” — and connects them with available resources and advise them to ensure that they are achieving academic success.

The Homelessness Liaison meets with students who are currently unhoused or housing insecure and assesses each student’s ability to meet their basic needs.

The Homelessness Liaison also provides referrals to all on- and off-campus resources for which each student may be eligible to ensure that, at minimum, they have a safe place to live and sleep and enough food to meet their nutritional needs.

If a student is experiencing homelessness, please reach out to SUNY Broome’s Homeless Liaison for more information and assistance: Lorie Brewer, TC 207 B, brewerlm@sunybroome.edu
