National statistics show that one in five college students is a student parent. Juggling the responsibilities of school and parenting can be challenging. At SUNY Broome, we are here to help you navigate the resources available to keep you on the path to a degree.

Childcare
- The BC Center, located on the SUNY Broome campus, is a licensed child care program for SUNY Broome students, SUNY Broome staff, and members of the surrounding community. If you are a SUNY Broome student, we can provide flexible scheduling to meet your needs and there are subsidies available for income-eligible families. For children 6 weeks to 5 years old, SUNY Broome may have an answer to your childcare concerns.
- Family Enrichment Network – Child Care Referral helps parents connect with quality child care programs near their work, home or school. This program is free, confidential, and designed to help find and select the child care arrangement that best suits individual family situations.
- New York State Office of Children and Family Services offers a searchable, comprehensive data base of regulated child care providers in New York.

Lactation Rooms
SUNY Broome has four Lactation / Personal Care Rooms on campus.
The rooms are located in:

- Culinary & Events Center (CEC) 014A
- Decker Health Science Center (DH) 201/202

Local school districts
- The Broome County area has many great public schools. Classes run Monday through Friday, September through June, following the district calendar.
- Broome-Tioga Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) operates as an extension of the local school districts, serving 15 component school districts in Broome and Tioga counties.
- Universal Pre-Kindergarten (UPK) is a free option for 4-year-old children that is offered by many local schools. The Kindergarten entrance age (birthday cutoff date) is December 1.
