Examples of Service Learning Projects

This list represents a small fraction of the projects available through the Service Learning Program and shows the types of projects BCC students have participated in in the past. George F. Johnson Dream Center
The George F. Johnson Dream Center is seeking students for the development and creation of curriculum for children with incarcerated parents and relatives. Students with a background in developmental psychology are particularly sought.
The Dream Center also seeks students to participate in the mentoring program. Students with experience playing basketball, creating art, computer skills, etc. are sought to act as mentors to youth.
Street Theatre Team
The BCC Street Theatre Team is accepting new members to develop and participate in skits designed to draw attention to and explore themes of poverty in the local, national, and international communities. BCC students will participate as writers and actors.
Fresh Cycles Mystery Story Workshop
BCC students will participate in the development and creation of a mystery story workshop for youth in the Fresh Cycles program in Binghamton, NY. Workshop participants will develop and create a mystery story. The workshop will culminate with students receiving a copy of their story.
Southern Tier Celebrates
Assist Southern Tier Celebrates, Binghamton based community arts and outreach organization, with marketing and educational programming.
