Women’s Soccer – Fall 09

10/3/09 Allie Bruet’s hat trick led the Hornets as they registered their tenth shutout of the season. Allie’s first goal came off a pass from Brenna Campbell eleven minutes into the game. Just 2:30 into the second half she scored the first of her two unassisted goals off a penalty kick. Megan Godbout and Ashley Sharp chipped in a goal apiece to give host Broome (12-2) the 5-0 win over Erie CC (1-9-1).

10/1/09 Ali Brady had five saves for Broome (11-2) in a 3-0 road victory against Jefferson CC (5-3-1). Holly Mazursky, Allie Bruet and Marcy Davis provided the goals for the Hornets. Up next is a home match against Erie CC on Saturday.

9/29/09 For the eighth time this year, the Lady Hornets (10-2) shutout their opponents. After a scoreless first half, Meghan Godbout converted Holly Mazersky’s cornerkick into the net 20 minutes into the second half. Just nine minutes later Allie Bruet scored again to give host Broome a 2-0 win over Tompkins Cortland CC (6-6).

9/26/09 Broome extended it’s winning streak to three games after an 8-1 win over Hudson Valley CC (3-5). BCC had 32 shot attempts to HVCC 14. Broome is now 9-2 on the year.

9/24/09 A solid defensive performance by the Hornets (8-2) keyed a 1-0 overtime victory over visiting Alfred State College(5-1-2). Broome was led by goalie Ali Brady’s seventh shutout of the season. After hitting the sideposts twice and the crossbar once, Brenna Campbell finally kicked the game winner 8 minutes into overtime.

9/19/09 Broome got back on track with a 3-0 road victory at Cayuga CC on Saturday behind second half goals from Marcy Davis, Meghan Godbout, and Holly Mazursky. The Hornets (7-2) outshot Cayuga (1-6) 22-0 while posting their sixth shutout of the year. BCC hosts Alfred State at 4 p.m. on Thursday.

9/15/09 BCC lost to visiting Herkimer County CC when Herkimer scored 30:45 into the second half.  Broome outshot Herkimer 16-7 but were unable to score.  BCC is 6-2.

9/12/09 Broome traveled to Jamestown CC and beat their hosts in a 2-0 shutout (BCC’s sixth shutout of the season).  Brenna Campbell scored both of the Hornet’s goals in the second half, first scoring off a pass from Lila Kashou.  Campbell’s second goal came on an assist from Amanda Wood.  Broome is 6-1.

9/10/09 BCC’s goalkeeper Ali Brady made nine saves and Brenna Campbell and Allie Bruet each scored a goal in the second half to beat visiting Mohawk Valley CC 2-0.  It was Brady’s fourth shutout of the six games played so far.  Ashley Sharp was credited with an assist.  Broome is 5-1.

9/5/09 Broome won 4-1 over visiting Genesee CC.  Amanda Woods scored the first goal of the first half and Ashley Sharp scored the second on a pass from Brenna Campbell.  Lila Kashou and Brooke Harris each scored a goal in the second half.   Holly Mazursky and Megan Godbout were credited with assists; Ali Brady made eight saves in goal.  BCC is 4-1.

9/3/09 Broome defeated host SUNY Delhi 1-0 in overtime.  Allie Bruet scored the winning goal 5:36 into the overtime on a one-touch pass from Amanda Wood.  BCC is 3-1.

9/1/09 BCC won their home-opener, defeating Corning CC 11-0.  Brenna Campbell, Amanda Woods and Lila Kashou each scored two goals for the Hornets and Campbell was credited with two assists.  Broome is 2-1.

8/29-30/09 BCC opened the 2009 season at the TC3 Tournament.  Broome defeated Holyoke CC in the first round of the tournment 2-0.  Macy Davis and Brenna Campbell each scored a goal in the second half  for the Hornets.  Ali Brady made four saves in goal for BCC.

Broome lost to Monroe CC 0-2 in the semi-final of the tournament.  Holly Mazursky was named Defensive Most Valuable Player for the tournament.  BCC is 1-1.

Men’s Soccer – Fall 09

10/3/09 Broome lost their first home game of the season to Jamestown CC 1-3. The Hornet’s record now stands at 7-4 while Jamestown improved to 7-6. BCC’s next game is a road trip to Watertown to face Jefferson CC.

9/29/09 The Hornets converted three of their five shots on goal to give Broome (7-3) a 3-1 victory over host Tompkins Cortland CC (7-4). Andrew Shell scored his first two goals of the season, the last one came in the72nd minute to seal the win. Brian Backus broke a 1-1 tie just five minutes into the second half and goalie Chris Ousterout was able to keep the Panthers in check with seven second half saves.

9/26/09 Broome remained undefeated at home with a 4-3 win over Hudson Valley CC (3-5-1). Trailing 3-2 at the half, Steve Rathburn scored the tying goal off an assist from JT Selter in the 67th minute of play. Seven minutes later Brian Backus found the back of the net for the game winner. The Hornets (6-3) take the short trip to Tompkins Cortland CC this Tuesday for a MSAC game.

9/24/09 Broome traveled to Alfred State College and lost their third game of the season in overtime, 1-2. Jordan Oakley scored off an assist from Steve Rathburn in the 64th minute of the game only to be tied with 4 minutes left to go in regulation. Alfred (4-4) netted the game winner 8 minutes into the first overtime. Chris Ousterout had eight saves as BCC now stands at 5-3 for the year.

9/22/09 The Hornets (5-2) snapped their two-game losing skid with a 6-1 victory over Fulton Montgomery CC (2-4) at Alumni Field. Steve Rathburn and Ermin Corbic each scored twice while teammates Jordan Oakley and Ryan Serbonich each added a goal. Chris Ousterout finished the game with eleven saves.

9/19/09 Broome fell to host Cayuga CC (1-5-1) in the sixth minute of overtime 2-1 off a corner kick. Brian Backus scored  the Hornet’s only goal and goalie Chris Ousterout registered five saves. BCC dropped to 4-2 on the year.

9/15/09 Broome lost to host defending national champions Herkimer County CC 0-2.  The game was scoreless until 55 minutes into the game when Herkimer scored. Goalie Chris Ousterout made 17 saves for the Hornets who shot 7 for 20 against Herkimer.

9/12/09 Broome played host to Niagara County CC and beat the visitors 7-2.  Bryan Backus scored two unassisted goals to lead the Hornets.  Goalie Chris Ousterout made ten saves along with getting assist for a long punt that set up a goal by Steve Rathbun.  Broome is 4-0.

9/8/09 BCC scored two goals within the first five minutes of play at Finger Lakes CC on their way to a 4-1 win.  Ermin Corbic scored the first goal of the game followed shortly thereafter by a goal from Paul Sardella.  Corbic also had an assist.  Jordan Oakley and Bryan Backus scored a goal each for the Hornets with Oakley credited with two assists.  BCC is 3-0.

9/5/09 Broome is 2-0 after their 3-1 win over visiting Genesee CC.  Steven Rathbun scored two unassisted goals and Jordan Oakley netted one unassisted goal for BCC.  Goalie Chris Ousterout made four saves.

9/3/09 Broome opened the 2009 season by defeating visiting Onondaga CC in a  4-3 overtime win.  Ryan Serbonich scored the winning goal late in the overtime period off an assist from Jordan Oakley.  Serbonich also scored a goal prior to overtime.  Steve Rathbun scored two goals for BCC including the goal that tied the game at 3, leading to the overtime.  Mike Krol, Adam Lantry, Ermin Corbic were also credited with an assist each.  Goalie Chris Ousterout made six saves.  BCC is 1-0.

Women’s Tennis – Fall 09

10/3/09; 10/4/09 Three singles players and two doubles teams won titles to help the Hornets claim the Region III championship and advance to the NJCAA Division III tournament next May in Tucson, Arizona. Jessica Miller, Colleen Hanzes and Jenna Rupert all won in straight sets. The doubles teams of Jessica Miller and Leigh Ann Hiser and Jenna Rupert and Melissa Campbell also claimed titles in straight sets. 

9/26/09 The Lady Hornets won all six of their singles matches in a 9-0 win against visiting Orange County CC (1-1). Broome finishes the regular season at 5-0. Next for the Hornets is the Region 3 Tournament in Delhi.

9/22/09 Broome defeated visiting Onondaga CC (3-2) 7-2 to remain perfect at 4-0. LeighAnn Hiser, Jenna Rupert and Melissa Campbell all improved to 3-1 in singles play this year. The Lady Hornets will host Orange County CC at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

9/18/09 The BCC women’s tennis team remained perfect after their 9-0 win Friday at Herkimer. The Hornets (3-0) improved to 9-0 in doubles play this year. Jessica Miller (3-0) and Colleen Hanzes (3-0) remained unbeaten in singles competition. Broome hosts Onondaga at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.

9/16/09 BCC women’s tennis continued their winning ways in the home opener against SUNY Delhi with another 7-2 win. Julia Hutchinson (1-1), Jessica Miller (2-0), Colleen Hanzes (2-0) and Jenna Rupert (1-1) all won their matches for Broome. Hutchinson/Hanzes (2-0), Miller/Hiser (2-0) and Rupert/Campbell (2-0) won at doubles. BCC is 2-0. Next up for the Hornets is a road trip to Herkimer this Friday at 4 p.m.

9/9/09 BCC women’s tennis opened the 2009 season on the road at Onondaga CC and came home with a 7-2 win.  Jessica Miller, Colleen Hanzes, Leigh Ann Hiser and Melissa Campbell all won at singles for Broome.  Julia Hutchinson/Hanzes, Miller/Hiser and Jenna Rupert/Campbell won at doubles.  BCC is 1-0.

Women’s Basketball

The Broome Community College women’s basketball program has grown to be one of the most competitive teams in Region III–producing two NJCAA All-Americans, two Region III MVP’s, two Conference MVP’s and many other players named to All-Region and All-Conference teams.

The Lady Hornets are members of the highly competitive NJCAA Region III and Mid-State Athletic Conferences and have qualified for post-season play six of the last seven years while averaging 19 wins per season and winning the MSAC regular season championship in 2005 and 2008. The women’s basketball team works hard both in the classroom and on the court.

Volleyball – Fall 09

10/5/09 Broome lost to host Herkimer CC in four games (20-25, 8-25, 25-21, 16-25). Herkimer (10-11) scored nine unanswered points in the fouth game to end Broome’s comeback bid. Skylar Gray had two aces and six blocks, Rachel Brennan, Katie Rutenber and Kelly Snyder had seven kills, Rebecca Thomas 25 assists and Megan Kresge had 14 digs. The Hornets (5-13) return home for a match on Thusday against Finger Lakes CC.

10/3/09 The Hornets traveled to Dryden to compete in the TC3 Invitational and finished the day 0-4 in pool play. Broome lost to Corning, Jefferson, Mohawk and Niagara as their record fell to 5-12 on the season. Leading the Hornets were Jessica Raminger and Skylar Gray with 13 kills, Rebecca Thomas 53 assists, Megan Kresge 46 digs and Katie Rutenber 9 blocks.

9/29/09 The Broome volleyball team improved their record to 5-8 in a match against visiting Jefferson CC (6-9). BCC led from start to finish in the fifth and final game of the match winning by a score of 15-12. Jessica Raminger led Broome with 7 aces, 15 kills, and 28 digs. Skylar Gray added 15 kills and Rebecca Thomas had 48 assists.

9/26/09 BCC lost to visiting Adirondack in five games (25-23, 19-25, 24-26, 25-19, 13-15) this afternoon in the West Gym. Skylar Gray had 10 kills, 6 aces, and 5 blocks, Katie Rutenber had 6 aces, and Rebecca Thomas had 26 assists as Broome fell to 4-8 on the year.

9/23/09 Broome won their fourth match of the season on the road against the Elmira College JV team (0-2). The Lady Hornets (4-7) were led by Skylar Gray’s eight kills and Rebecca Thomas’ 17 assists as BCC swept the Soaring Eagles (25-14, 25-18, 25-16). Steph Ostrom added four aces and two blocks and Megan Kresge had 8 digs.

9/17/09 Skylar Gray and Rachel Brennan each had 9 kills to lead Broome (3-7) in three straight games (25-19, 25-21, 29-27) over visiting Onondaga CC (5-6). Rebecca Thomas had 28 assists and Megan Kresge added 20 digs.

9/15/09 Broome fell to visiting SUNY Delhi 21-25, 10-25, 18-25.  Rebecca Thomas had 15 assists and Megan Kresge 15 digs for the Hornets.  Broome is 2-7.

9/12/09 Broome traveled to the Jefferson CC Invitational and lost three, two game matches to Erie (21-25, 25-27), Jamestown CC (9-25, 22-25) and Jefferson CC (13-25, 25-27).  Skylar Gray had eight kills, six aces and seven blocks for the tournament.  Rebecca Thomas had 26 assists, Jessica Raminger 20 digs, Rachel Brennan 6 kills and Megan Kresge 24 digs.  BCC is 2-6.

9/10/09 The Hornets fell to visiting Corning CC 0-3 (19-25, 16-25, 22-25).  Jessica Raminger had 12 digs and three kills, Skylar Gray three kills and Rebecca Thomas seven assists.  Broome is 2-3.

9/8/09 BCC traveled to Tompkins Cortland CC and won the match 3-2 (25-12, 25-14, 11-25, 20-25, 15-7).  Skylar Gray had 10 kills, Rebecca Thomas 21 assists and Stephanie Ostrom six aces in the win.  BCC is 2-2.

8/29/09 Broome hosted their annual BCC Invitational Tournament to open the 2009 season.  BCC did not advance from pool play, defeating Suffolk-Grant 2-0 and then losing to Jamestown 1-2 and Erie 1-2.  Kelsey Lewis was named to the All-Tournament Team.  Broome is 1-2.
